Nowadays, interpreting is playing an indispensable part in the process of opening up and globalization in China. However, interpreters often encounter many difficulties, for example cultural issues, humor, terminology and long sentences. All of these problems affect interpreters’ performances and bring obstacles to them. This report analyzes the influence that accents impose on interpreting performances. The 3rd China-Germany(Europe)SME Conference was held in Jieyang,Guangdong from June 12 th to June 13 th.In the interpreting practice, the interpreter provided the service of consecutive interpreting for a professor from the Faculty of Transportation Engineering in Czech Technical University in Prague and his meetings with representatives from the Chinese companies. The interpreter, during the process, found that the accent was the major factor that greatly influenced her output. Therefore, the author decided to focus on the impact of accent. This report goes through the whole interpreting process in detail, and analyzes the influences of English with accent on interpreters in light of Gile’s Effort Models through case study. Then the author describes which tactics she used to overcome the difficulty and gives her thought at the end of the report. To serve as an interpreting for the 3rd China-Germany(Europe)SME Conference was a relatively complete interpreting practice for the author as a postgraduate.Being a primary learner in the field of interpreting, the author still has a lot to improve. This report not only analyzes and concludes the practice but is also used by the interpreter to share experiences with other interpreters for their comments, with whom the interpreter hopes to communicate.
