| Linguistic landscape,which is proposed by Landry&Bourhis in 1997,refers to the language signs in a given space.The research about LL has been a significant study field of sociolinguistics after a prolonged endeavor.This research records the Korean commercial street’s language signs in Yuanjing road Baiyun district of Guangzhou by taking photos.Then the thesis takes both the quantitative and qualitative analysis methods to describe the LL as well as explain the special language phenomenon.Firstly,based on the Place Semiotics theory,set up by Scollon&Scollon,the second chapter gives an overall description of LL in Yuanjing road from five aspects,including code chosen,code combination,code preference,inscription and emplacement.Then,the chapter three argues different factors that paly roles in the construction of LL and draws the conclusion that LL in Yuanjing road is a combination of demographic structure,language identity,power relations and the principle of interest.Based on the language facts,chapter four puts up with the issue of language management.This thesis steps up an effort to record and analyze the LL,aims at enriching the empirical study of LL. |
