The Contrast Of Chinese And English Sentence Elements’ Ellipsis And The Study On Related Problems In Teaching Chinese As A Foreign Language

With the rapid development of modern society and the accelerated pace of life,the use of language tends to be more and more concise and economical.In the process of verbal communication and linguistic simplification,ellipsis plays a significant role.As a common linguistic phenomenon,ellipsis shows differences as well as similarities in Chinese and English.By contrasting the ellipsis examples of different sentence elements and analyzing their differences and similarities,this paper attempts to conclude the respective characteristics of Chinese ellipsis and English ellipsis,furthermore aims at solving problems in teaching Chinese ellipsis.This paper is divided into five parts as following: the first part mainly introduces the studies of Chinese ellipsis and English ellipsis,the contrast studies of Chinese and English ellipsis,the studies of Chinese ellipsis teaching,the objectives and the methods of this paper.The second part is going to analyze the ellipsis sentence in Chinese and English by contrasting specific ellipsis of different sentence elements—subject,predicate,object and other elements.The third part is a conclusion of respective characteristics of sentence elements’ ellipsis in Chinese and English and a summary of their similarities and differences.The next part points at studying on teaching Chinese sentence elements’ ellipsis,taking teaching measures and exploring teaching methods for the solution of ellipsis teaching problems in Chinese.The last part is a conclusion of this whole paper,a discuss of the bright points and weak points about this paper,and an outlook for the subsequent studies on ellipsis of sentence elements.
