| Cultivating students’ oral English communicative competence is one of the important goals for junior high school English teaching.Nowadays, educational technology is developing rapidly. However,as a supplementary means of classroom teaching, whether information technology can really promote oral English teaching or not still remains uncertain.Because of this reason, the author decided to explore the role and deficiencies of human-machine dialogue software in the cultivation of junior high school students’ oral English communicative competence. The purpose of this empirical study is to evaluate the effectiveness of human-machine dialogue software. This study uses the test, questionnaires and interviews as tools, and uses the analysis of variance method and case analysis method to study the effect of human-machine dialogue software on junior high school students’ oral English communicative competence. The specific research questions of this study are as follows:1)Does the use of human-machine dialogue software significantly affect junior high school students’ oral English communicative competence?2)What are the shortcomings of the human-machine dialogue software in the cultivation of junior high school students’ oral English communicative competence? In order to understand the students’ use of the human-computer dialogue software, the author conducted a questionnaire survey and 150 students in a junior high school in Qingdao were interviewed.According to the statistics of questionnaires,in order to prepare for the oral test of the senior high school entrance examination,25 students have used the human-machine dialogue software every day for six months,91 students have used it once a week,18 students have used it every two weeks, and 12 students have used it once a month. After the announcement of the oral English test results, the author collected the scores of each student who participated in the questionnaire and input them into the computer. At the same time, the results of all the questionnaires are transformed into data format and input into the computer.SPSS software is used to analyze the data, and the following conclusions have been drawn: Firstly,in the subjective evaluation of students,human-machine dialogue software has the effect of increasing human-computer interaction compared with traditional oral teaching. It creates a richer and more authentic spoken environment, but fails to provide rich comprehensible input.According to the data, there is no obvious connection between the level of students’ oral English and the frequency of use of human-machine dialogue software. The students who use the human-machine dialogue software every day have the highest scores in the senior high school entrance examination of oral English, while the scores of the students who use it once a month are ranked second, and the students who use it once every two weeks have the lowest scores. The score gap between the highest score and the lowest score is about one point.Secondly, compared with traditional teaching,human-machine dialogue software mainly lacks three aspects: low precision of learning, lack of intelligence, and limited interaction. |
