| The translation material studied in this paper is the prospectus submitted by a domestic enterprise during the listing process(Prospectus, hereinafter referred to as “the prospectus”).It was a document during my internship with over 30,000 words, and the author selected approximately 10,000 of them to carry out this translation study. In order to get better translations, skopos theory was chosen as the theoretical guidance.During the listing procedures of a company, submitting a prospectus is a very important part.It should be noted that the prospectus is an offer and invitation document that makes necessary disclosures to the public regarding relevant matters and invites non-specific investors to purchase or sell its shares at the issuance of shares by a limited liability company. This paper is a translation practice report written by me based on the prospectus submitted by a domestic company that intends to be listed on Australian Stock Exchange in 2017.This document was sent to the project department of the company by a foreign lawyer hired. In this process, the author chose the Skopos Theory as a guide, and thoroughly carried out the translation of the prospectus, combining the " skopos rule","coherence rule " and "loyalty principle" contained in the theory, from the perspective of words, sentences, paragraphs, etc.Taking Skopos Theory as the guide, some of the obscure sentences and paragraphs in the document have been better handled, and the communicative function of the translation has been better realized, which has made the project department and investors have more accurate and comprehensive understanding of the prospectus. It should be specially stated that,in view of the confidentiality obligations and responsibilities to corporate documents, all the directional information and data in the original text and translations in the appendixes have been omitted, and this paper is only for the purpose of the author’s translation practice study instead of any purpose for profits. No unit or individual may plagiarize relevant documents and information. |
