| International publicity translation plays an indispensable role in raising China’s profile and increasing its soft power globally.Therefore,a number of publicity documents,such as fiscal reports,travel brochures,government white papers and traditional Chinese classics,should be translated into other languages to provide foreigners with a deep understanding of China.To attain this goal,translators must fully investigate the text features of publicity files,and apply effective strategies to unravel various translation problems.Based upon the writer’s translation projects,this paper intends to discuss: a)how to deal with the wrong information in the original texts,b)how to precisely render vague,ornate,and sometimes even deceptive expressions in Chinese,c)how to handle superfluous Chinese words and phrases.The paper suggests three corresponding strategies: revising the inaccurate parts in the original texts,replacing abstract phrases with simple,lucid expressions,and deleting excess information. |
