When it comes to rituals,a mysterious and sacred feeling arises spontaneously.China has a long history and a vast territory.Different geographical environments have nurtured different nationalities and brought variety of folk culture. There are many ethnic minorities in the southwestern region of China, and there are also many wonderful ceremonies in their grand festivals. With the booming tourism industry, many ancient ceremonies faded and met with the world in a new exhibition gradually.Because the transformation of traditional rituals brought about by tourism specifically includes what is good or bad, these are issues worth pondering. This article takes the host ritual performance as a theme, and classifies and organizes the related literatures of the ritual performance, taking the Tianlong Tunpu as a case study, and cutting into the phenomenon of the host ritual performance from the perspective of locality.First of all,as the theoretical basis of this article, the author makes a complete literature review on the research results of ritual performance and sense of place.Next, the author uses Tianlong Tunpu as a case to conduct qualitative analysis through the text data obtained from field work and in-depth interviews, and quantitatively analyze the data obtained through questionnaire survey to investigate the host ritual performance under the local perspective. Then, the author introduces the concept of place image, conceptualizes it,and carries out the local deconstruction of the earthly ritual as an image through coding. What’s more,it discusses the change and reconstruction of this image in the tourism situation. Then it puts forward the forming process and content of the host’s sense of place.Based on the data of mature sense of place scale and qualitative analysis,a theoretical framework of sense of place measurement was established, and corresponding hypotheses were proposed.By statistical analysis of the data collected from the questionnaire survey, the correlation between place image perception and sense of place was verified.Through descriptive statistics, reliability and validity analysis, correlation analysis and comparative average analysis, the relationship between variables is obtained, thereby drawing a conclusion.Through qualitative analysis,it is found that the locality of the Tunpu Di Opera is reflected in the four aspects of exhibition space, local ethnic, cultural representation and ritual symbol;the change of the earth-playing ritual in the tourism situation is reflected in the exhibition evolution and ritual time of the ceremony place. The simplification of the ritual content, the simplification of the ritual performance, the standardization of the ceremonial performance, the diversification of the ritual performers, the modernization of the genre and the secularization of the ritual function;the process of generating the sense of place of the host can be divided into two parts. The first link is that the residents’ perception of the place image directly generates a sense of place. The second link is that the perception of place image will be reconstructed through the interactive ritual chain in the context of tourism.Whether the perception reconstruction is positive or not will affect the sense of place.Empirical research results show that the residents’ overall image perception and sense of place are very high, and the human and emotional connections are very close. The residents’ overall place identity dimension has the highest score, and they have a deep sense of identity to their own ethnic groups and cultures. It can be seen that place image perception has a significant correlation with sense of place;by comparing the average analysis,it can be found that residents of different ages, education, occupation, income, and residence time have significant differences in place image perception and sense of place. The place image perception and sense of place of people engaged in Di Opera performances are much higher than those of other residents.Residents of different genders differ in place image perception, but there is no significant difference in the sense of place, and whether they receive income from tourism. The residents who have received income from the tourism industry have little difference in the tests of these two scales. The current research only makes some preliminary explorations of the ritual performance from a local perspective, and there are still many problems and research perspectives to be improved in future research.we can also study the relationship between the host’s behavioral intentions and the sense of place of tourism development on this basis.
