Correlation In Recipient Topic And Verb Reduplication In Hangzhou Dialect

In Hangzhou dialect,there is a strong correlation between verb reduplication and topic.This dissertation mainly describes and discusses the topicalization of patients when the verbs are reduplicated in terms of verb form,sentence characteristics,and noun types.From the perspective of verbs,by in-depth comparative analysis from the verb reduplication in different forms,with complements,adverbials,auxiliary verbs,directional verbs and other parameters,it's found that in general circumstances,when the verb is reduplicated,the patient may be topicalized;when the verb is not reduplicated,the patient can't be topicalized;when the patient is topicalized(between the subject and the predicate),the verb must be reduplicated.Therefore,it can be seen from above that verb reduplication can lead to conditional topicalization of the patients,and the topic has a certain extent of dependence on the verb reduplication while all of the complements,adverbials,auxiliary verbs,and directional verbs of the verb reduplication are playing positive roles on topicalization.From the perspective of sentences,starting from the perspective of the sentence category,complexity of the sentence and the complex sentence,by comparing the influence of different sentence categories on the topicalization,it's found that opposing to the declarative sentence.the imperative sentence and the negative sentence have a positive effect on the topicalization of the patient of the verb reduplication.The performances of the imperative sentence is more complex and have different topical performances by various verb parameters;however,overally,both imperative sentence and parameters of the verb reduplication in the imperative sentence will strengthen the trend of topicalization of the patient.At the same time,as the sentences become more and more complex,the requirements for topicalization are getting lower and lower,and there are more and more acceptable sentence patterns,which indicates the positive relation between the complexity of the sentences and the topicalization.From the perspective of nouns,by demonstrating from the point of view of pronouns,the degree of acceptance of life,single and double syllables of nouns,references and modifiers and the comparison of the pronoun and the degree of life of the patient,it's found that the higher the degree of animacy of the patient,the weaker the tendency of the topicalization.In terms of reference,it's found that in the case of verb replication without complements,whether the patient of the verb reduplication is pre-posed as a subtopic or not,the patient must be a bare noun.When the verb reduplication is modified by a modifier,no matter it is nominal,adjective,verbal,or relative clause,the topicalization of the sentence is strengthened.Overall,the verb reduplication in Hangzhou dialect has a positive effect on the topicalization,and the specific performance will be different by different parameters.We hope that the content of the study and the corpus collected in this paper can fill the research gap of the relationship between verb reduplication and topicalization;at the same time,can enrich the linguistic materials of Hangzhou dialect,and serve as a reference for language description and investigation.
