English teaching aims is one of the key points of instructional design.However,in terms of the current situation of high school English teaching,many teachers still have many problems in the determination and design of teaching objectives.In teaching practice,there is often a lack of understanding of the relationship between classroom teaching objectives design and classroom implementation.Taking the teaching objectives design of English teachers in a high school in Wanzhou District of Chongqing as an example,this paper investigates the design and implementation of the teaching objectives of high school English teachers,discusses the consistency of English teaching aims design and classroom implementation,and helps teachers understand the design of teaching objectives.In relation to the classroom teaching process,a method for improving the design of English teaching objectives is proposed.This study will answer the following three questions: 1.What is the understanding of the teaching objectives and design of high school English teachers? 2.What is the current status of high school English teachers’ design aims? 3.How is the implementation?The study was conducted at a senior middle school in Wanzhou District,Chongqing.The research methods are questionnaire survey,interview method,text analysis method and classroom observation method.The research process is as follows: 1.Distribute and collect questionnaires,a total of 50 questionnaires for high school English teachers.2.Conduct interviews.After the questionnaire survey was issued,based on the questionnaire survey,five high school English teachers were interviewed in order to gain a deep understanding of the high school English teachers’ understanding of the teaching objectives and design.3.Collect the lesson plans of the five high school English teachers,a total of 10 lesson plans,including68 teaching objectives.According to the ABCD teaching target model,three-dimensional teaching objectives,five-dimensional teaching objectives and SMART teaching aims design principles,these 68 teaching objectives were compiled and analyzed.4.Class observation.Based on 10 lesson plans and classroom observation scales,10 English classes were observed and recorded.The results of the study are as follows: high school English teachers have a good understanding of the teaching objectives and hold a positive attitude towards the design of teaching objectives.Most English teachers pay too much attention to knowledge and skill objectives when designing teaching objectives,ignoring learning strategies,emotional attitudes,cultural awareness,etc.;written English teaching objectives ignore the contextual design of teaching and the differences of students;the verbs used are vague and broad.Most high school English teachers can design appropriate teaching activities according to their own teaching objectives in the process of teaching objectives.Every English class basically realizes the teaching objectives of the class,but in the process of implementing the teaching objectives,effective teaching method is often ignored.
