The Psychological Reality And Mapping Relation Of Spatial Distance Metaphor Of Emotional Concept

In this study,three studies(four experiments)were conducted to explore the psychological reality and mapping relationship of spatial distance metaphor of emotional concepts.Can explore the emotional concept through metaphor to characterize,space distance from the source domain to target domain and two from the source domain and target domain mapping direction how specific performance,in interpersonal communication interpersonal space distance,what is the effect of these possibilities are studied,in order to can provide emotional space distance of the concept of metaphor study with some psychological basis.In study one,present different emotional words,asked participants to put these emotional words in lateral horizontal space position(or random)near or far,examine whether the participants tend to put positive emotional words in lateral horizontal space near,put the negative emotional words in lateral horizontal space distance,and is not affected by spatial orientation around lateral horizontal space.To investigate whether the spatial distance metaphor of emotion concept has psychological reality.In study 2,experiment 1,different emotional faces were presented first,and then letters were randomly presented near or far in the horizontal space,and the subjects were asked to identify letters.Based on the length of the subjects’ reaction time,this study investigated whether the initiation of emotional concepts would affect the cognition of horizontal spatial distance.In study 2 and experiment 2,images with different distances in the horizontal space were first presented,and then positive or negative emotional images were randomly presented.The subjects were asked to judge the emotional color of the images.According to the length of the subjects’ reaction time,this study investigated whether the representation of the horizontal spatial distance metaphor processing of emotional concepts can be conducted from the distance to the direction of emotional concepts,that is,whether the distance will affect the understanding of emotional concepts.In the third study,subjects were asked to choose an appropriate interpersonal space location in the presence of different emotional audio.According to the choice of subjects’ location,the paper investigated whether the distance of subjects from the "target person"(where the audio is played)under different emotional concepts would be different,that is,to investigate the influence of emotional concepts on interpersonal space distance in interpersonal communication and how it is manifested.Results:(1)Emotional concept of spatial distance metaphor psychological reality.(1)When the positive emotion words were activated,the subjects tended to place the words near the horizontal space and were not affected by the left and right spatial directions;(2)When the negative emotion words were activated,the subjects tended to put the words in the distance of the horizontal space,which was not affected by the left and right spatial directions.(2)The spatial distance metaphor of emotional concepts does not have symmetry and is a one-way mapping relationship.Emotional concepts will affect the cognition of the concepts of near and far space,and the influence of the concepts of near and far space on the spatial representation of emotional concepts is not constant.(1)When the positive emotion faces were activated,the recognition time of nearby letters was shorter than that of distant letters.(2)When negative emotion faces were activated,the recognition time of distant letters was shorter than that of close letters.(3)The recognition time of positive emotional images was shorter than that of negative emotional images when the horizontal and near spatial images were activated.(4)When the horizontal and distant spatial images were activated,the recognition time of positive emotion images was shorter than that of negative emotion images.(3)The spatial distance metaphor of emotional concept has an influence on interpersonal spatial distance in interpersonal communication.When the concept of positive emotion was activated,the interpersonal space of subjects was close.When the negative emotion concept was activated,the interpersonal space of the subjects was far away.
