English teachers not only need general education knowledge but also need pedagogical content knowledge(PCK)based on practice.Shulman(1987)believes PCK is the core of the teacher knowledge.In the existing research on PCK,there are many studies on its contents,origin,constituent elements and functions of PCK,while the research on English teachers' PCK in grammar instruction is rare.The development of education and teaching level in Tibet is backward in China's basic education due to historical,economic reasons in Tibet.Based on the importance of building teaching teams in minority areas,the professional development of English teachers in Tibet has received more and more attention.Through the questionnaire and interview analysis,the paper explores the role of English teachers' PCK in grammar teaching in senior high school.According to the questionnaires and interview results of English teachers in senior high school,combined with a large number of literature and quantitative tools,the purpose is to explore the following questions: What is current situation of English teachers' PCK in senior high school in Shigatse? What factors of English teachers' PCK influence the quality of grammar teaching in senior high school in Shigatse? How do these factors of English teachers' PCK affect grammar teaching in Shigatse? How to improve the ability of English grammar teaching in order to improve English teachers' PCK?The results are as follows: the level of English teachers' PCK is mediocre.The different aspects of English teachers' PCK are not at the same level.The level of self-reflection knowledge is the highest;the level of teaching methodology knowledge is the lowest,and the level of target knowledge,student knowledge,situation knowledge,course knowledge is ordinary;all factors of English teachers' PCK have a great impact on grammar teaching;Among Tibetan-nationality teachers and Han-nationality teachers,teachers' target knowledge has greater impact on grammar teaching.Among non-local teachers and local teachers,student knowledge,situation knowledge and self-reflection knowledge have greater impact on grammar teaching.It is suggested that teachers should improve the level of PCK to improve the ability of grammar teaching from three perspectives.
