| Foreign students from Ryukyu who studied in China were the important carrier to spread Chinese culture to Ryukyu under the patriarchal-vassal system of Ming and Qing Dynasties. However, the current research on foreign students made in the academic circle focuses on official students who studied in the Imperial Academy and ignores the important role of "Qinxue" students who studied in Fujian. In Ming and Qing Dynasties,Ryukyu sent a large number of children to study in Fuzhou and other places, and what they learned was wide and practical and promoted the progress of the Ryukyu society. After reading carefully the literature and ancient books from home and abroad, especially with the Ryukyu genealogy, this paper will conduct the thorough research on "Qinxue"students from some respects, such as how they were dispatched, how they studied and lived in Fuzhou and what historical contributions they made, etc. And then this paper will discuss outstanding contributions "Qinxue" students made in the spread of Chinese Confucian culture and production technology and the important role they played in politics, economy, education, medicine and art of Ryukyu. In addition, the paper will also study some matters which were easily ignored by scholars in the past. For example,"Qinxue" students were appointed as interpreters and also played an important role in sending refugees back to Ryukyu. |
