A Study Of The Image Of "Concubine" In The Novels Of Ming And Qing

During the Ming and Qing dynasties,the rapid germination of capitalism and the rapid development of economy led to great development of literature in this period.In this period,world situation novels depicting the life of small families have sprung up,and what is essential in family life is the relationship between husband and wife,as well as a new identity derived from the relationship between husband and wife-concubine.Concubine as a semi-main half-servant into the ancient family life,began to appear with concubine women as the main characters of the world situation novel,"Golden Bottle plum" has become the first climax to the peak of the works,followed by a large number of concubine images emerged.This paper selects "Golden Bottle Plum","dream of Life","Red Mansions" three representative articles,focusing on the description of three works of concubine women from perceptual resistance to rational resistance to the final rebellious return of the trajectory,analysis of the causes of this trajectory and the reasons for the eventual failure after the resistance,trying to arouse people’s widespread attention and sympathy for such images.In this paper,the research method of philology is used to study the text on the basis of works.Before writing begins,the introduction explains the meaning of the topic and the current situation of the study,and explains the meaning of the writing.The first part: Tracing the definition of the group culture of "concubine" and the provisions of Clan society on the status and function of concubines.This paper makes a simple description of the "concubine" appearing in the previous novels of "Jinpingmei",and emphatically describes the concubines in the three novels,and classifies the concubines in the novels of the Ming and Qing dynasties.The second part: from the "Golden Bottle Plum" "Wake Up Marriage" "dream of Red Mansions" in the three works of the work of the concubine image combined with the work of the analysis,revealed this period of "concubine" self-awareness of the changes.The third part: from the angle of cultural implication to analyze the causes of concubine’s resistance,and summed up the end of resistance,get the deep cause of general failure,expose the tragic fate of concubine women.Conclusion: A brief introduction to the relationship between the inheritance and development of the three works,as well as the contribution made in the process of the continuous enrichment of the "concubine" image.
