Modern Chinese vocabulary is dominated by two-syllable words, but the number of three-syllable words is also increasing. Therefore, the study of three-syllable words in modern Chinese has attracted the attention and interest of many experts and scholars.According to the studies of many predecessors,we generally agree with the conclusion that the rhythm division of three-syllable words is mainly based on model[2+1],and three-syllable words of model [2+1] are mostly nouns.Based on the research results of predecessors, this paper analyzes the three-syllable words with the characteristics of "X+V/A" in the form(some of the words' core components are of the multi-category words),and the grammatical function as nouns from various perspectives, aiming at further explaining from the microscopic perspective that partial three-syllable words as a whole show a strong trend of noun.Even if the central component is a combination of three syllables with predicate or concurrent nature,it still shows obvious noun features after lexicalization,at the same time,it also shows the lexical meaning characteristics of three-syllable words to refer to specific things and most are names of things, which also provides a good example for the "concentric structure" studied by predecessors from another perspective. In terms of specific content, the first chapter introduces briefly the reason, research object, research status, theoretical basis and research method and so on.Chapter 2 focuses on the analysis of internal structure.Through the analysis,we find that rhythm and prosody are divided into [2+1] type and the lexical structure is mostly of attribute-center structure.Even partial verb-adverbial structures also tend to be attribute-center structures, which shows strong attribute of nouns. In Chapter 3,we analyze three-syllable words that meet the conditions of formation of semantic constraints, which are relatively loose in the structure, especially the subject-predicate type,verb-adverbial type and predicatively coordinate type, these three categories are more difficult than on the phrases that are combined by three nominal syllables. The Chapter 4 analyzes internal generation mechanism of the "X+V/A" nominal three-syllable words, including the restriction of rhythm syntax, the effect of pragmatic principles. In addition, there is the common and important mechanism——the result of brain cognitive model, through conceptual metonymy and conceptual reification, which changes the result of whole scan from highlighting the process or characteristics of an event to highlighting the event itself. Finally, from the perspective of pragmatics,Chapter 5 makes a simple analysis of the rhetoricalfeatures of these three-syllable words. We find that such three-syllable words have a series of characteristics of spoken language such as relaxed, lively, vivid, and easy to understand, which creates favorable conditions for their wide use and dissemination in daily life.
