As a short and concise video clip with film attributes,micro-film has many problems in structure and narration since its birth.This is partly due to the objective restrictions on the creation of micro-films,and partly to the lack of sufficient theoretical research guidance.With the rapid development of new media,the creation of micro-film is blowout.More and more people join the micro-film creation camp.However,how to improve the artistic level of micro-film and maintain its long-term vitality is a more important issue for these micro-film creators.Driven by this problem,the author deeply studies the suspense settings and effects in the creation of micro-films.Suspense setting is one of the measures taken by micro film creators to arrange the plot.The director and scriptwriter of micro film use the audience’s attention to the fate of characters and the progress of the plot to set up the suspense in the creation of micro film.Due to the limitation of the length of micro-film,it requires the creator to attract the audience in a short time.The suspense settings will make the plot of micro-film more tortuous,the content more exciting,and the narrative more vivid,thus enhancing the audience’s interest in micro-film.The ingenuity of suspense settings directly determines the perception of micro-films.Through the research and thinking of many excellent micro-film works,and the graduation works of micro-film "cheating" and "case" created by myself as research cases,the author summarizes the suspense setting mechanism,mode and effect in the creation of micro-film,which has certain theoretical and practical significance.This paper focuses on the function and types,mechanism characteristics,setting techniques and ultimate effects of suspense settings in the creation of micro-films.By using literature analysis,case study and creative practice,this paper makes a thorough study of suspense settings in the creation of micro-films from different perspectives and levels.Firstly,the paper expounds the historical process of the birth of micro-film and defines the essence of micro-film.It holds that the birth and development of micro-film is a revolutionary event in the history of world film.This paper reviewsthe research status of suspense and suspense settings,analyses the existing problems,and puts forward three major functions of suspense in the creation of micro-films:suspense makes the plot of micro-films tortuous,deepens the theme and improves the audience’s interest in the film.According to the audience and the role,the suspense is divided into four categories.Secondly,the mechanism characteristics of suspense settings in micro-film creation are elaborated in depth.At the same time,the author summarizes three skills of suspense setting by combining his own graduation works with practical experience in creation: using title,narrative structure and audio-visual language to set suspense;at last,the author summarizes the research of this paper and points out its shortcomings,and combines theory and creation in the demonstration with his own creative practice experience.The research on suspense settings in the creation of micro-films makes a prospect.
