Meng Haoran, the renown poet of Xiangyang, who had never met his soulmate all his life, adapted himself to poetry. His achievements in poetry were unique in the prosperous Tang Dynasty.Since the twentieth century,Meng Haoran’s poetry has been studied endlessly, but most scholars believe that "Qing" is his style.Meanwhile, the "light" has also been studied, but it has not entered into a detailed and in-depth study and the academic circles rarely involve in the "true" and "wonderful insight".Therefore, there is still room for exploration. This paper attempts to study Meng Haoran’s poems from the perspective of "truth","light" and "subtle enlightenment".The paper is formed by four parts. The first is about the "truth" in his poems.Meng Haoran embodied his aesthetic characteristic of "truth" in his creative practice.First, the Tang Dynasty, which was characterized by naivety, enlightened politics and extremely free spirit, created his personality of seeking truth, which made him ordinary all his life, stayed away from Wei(It’s one of the Three Kingdoms and the other two are Shu and Wu.)and did not serve fame and wealth.Secondly,Meng Haoran did not stick to a certain interest. Also,he was a person who attached great importance on making friends sincerely from officials to ordinary. What’s more,he was passionate in travelling, especially keen on mountains, rivers and lakes. In addition,he also sought official positions, but he suffered repeated defeats. All his families stressed a lot on Confucianism, and his will to save the world made him learn calligraphy and swords simultaneously and went to Beijing a few times.Thirdly, the scenery in his poems is vivid. It seems that all the picturesque scenes are as natural and lifelike as it is for his unconventionality. For the second part of Meng’s "light beauty" in his poems,"light beauty" is another important aesthetic connotation of MengHaoran’s poetry. The "light" reflects his unique interest and pursuit of the aesthetic realm of poetry. His "scenery and emotion" or "language and artistic conception" have all reached the "light".Also, most of his paintings of mountains and rivers were mostly written in "light".We can’t even figure out the writing, but itscharms can still spill out.All these fresh and beautiful landscape paintings have revealed his elegant and light life. His poems are always expressed in plain and natural language. He seek "light" aesthetic interst in poems, but used "light" to achieve the harmonious beauty of the artistic conception. For the third part,it’s about the "miraculous enlightenment" in his poems.Meng was well-known for his poems and especially gained more fame than other’s for his "miraculous enlightenment".This was mainly due to his understanding of poetry materials, his insight into the meaning of poems, and his enlightenment to make his poems standing out of other’s.His "miraculous enlightenment" embodies his ability to write poems. The last part is about the value in the history of poetry.Meng Haoran was a transitional poet from early Tang Dynasty to the flourishing Tang Dynasty. He made a great difference obviously in Tang poetry.Undoubtedly,it’s a great progress to advocate a fresh and natural poetry style for resting his feelings in interest, and expressing them boldly.
