The Application Of Surrealist Elements In Watercolor Creation

This paper analyzes the related works of surrealism at home and abroad and discusses the significance of surrealism on the creation of watercolor painting.Surrealist painting style was born after the First World War.People’s body and mind were extremely devastated by the war.They were eager to find new spiritual comfort and pursue extreme reality as soon as possible.Surrealism pays more attention to the expression of content,and there is no clear regulation on the form of expression.This also makes surrealist paintings more widely available,and can express figurative or abstract things through realistic methods.Surrealist artists subverted the old thinking mode,opposed the tradition,broke the routine,deconstructed and reorganized the picture with absurdity,exaggeration,and deformation,showing the characteristics of mysterious terror.Although surrealist paintings dismember the inherent conceptual patterns,they are more likely to cause viewers to think and even unearth the deepest emotions in people’s hearts.Watercolor paintings belong to exotic products and have been developed in China for decades.At the moment,traditional watercolors are gradually showing new forms.The watercolor painters continue to explore new themes and content,dare to innovate,and go out of the watercolor painting with Chinese characteristics,thus broadening the research surface of watercolor painting.This paper is divided into four parts.The first part briefly describes the development background and style characteristics of the surrealist elements.The second part describes the development status and basic characteristics of watercolor painting.The third part is a detailed analysis of the concrete presentation of surrealist elements in domestic and foreign works.The last part is the combination of the theory of this article and the practice of graduation creation.From the perspective of self-creation,it analyzes the inspiration of surrealism elements to create its own watercolor paintings,and how to combine the two into the creation.
