Appian’s Roman Histories and Caesar’s Civil War are the basic historical materials for the study of Greek and Roman history.In view of the current situation of the comparative study of the two books,this paper intends to make a comparative study of Roman Histories and Civil War.This paper is composed of three parts: introduction,text(three chapters)and conclusion.First of all,in the introduction,the author introduced the domestic and foreign research survey of Roman Histories and Civil War,and clarified the purpose of the paper,significance,innovation and difficulties.Secondly,Caesar at the end of the Roman Republic and Appian at the end of the empire lived very different lives.Appian recorded histories that ranged from all the worlds,and Caesar wrote his own wars,which determine the difference between Roman Histories and Civil War.Chapter one and Chapter two is the primary body.The first chapter and the second chapter are the main body.In the first chapter,the author will compare the time span and spatial extent under the influence of the of the two historians’ creative background,and analyze the differences of the Roman history and the Civil War under different creative purposes,and compare the various characters in the Roman Histories and Civil War.And analysis Roman army’s different changes during the war;Chapter two begins with the texts of Roman History and Civil War,explores the narrative content and thematic characteristics of the two historical texts,and comprehensively analyzes the causes of war between Caesar and Pompeii,through its processes and results,the author will clarify the changes in the military relations during the civil war.Finally,in addition to summing up the contents discussed above,conclusion of this paper holds that the two books are complementary to each other and different from each other.Through the comparison,we can deepen the understanding of the two books and Roman history...
