With the prevalence of American superhero movies,more and more scholars begin to pay attention to and study American superhero movies.But they ignore another kind of hero image in American movies,that is,"civilian hero".Path,this article will study focused on the "civilian hero" image,helps to broaden the research field of vision of American hero film series,help scholars more in-depth research and thinking about how American movie dissemination of contemporary American mainstream values,for our country’s movie art development provides some successful experience for reference.Therefore,this paper has sorted out and summarized a large number of hero images in American films,analyzed them from the perspective of cultural research,and tried to pry into the social phenomena and mainstream values that American pay attention to in their films.This paper is divided into six parts: introduction,text and conclusion.In the introduction,the concept of "civilian hero" is defined in detail.Through the comparison with "mythical hero","superhero" and "successful person",the scope of the research object of this paper is clear.The second part,on the basis of this definition,expounds the character types of "civilian heroes" in American films according to the different directions of American mainstream values and in combination with classic movies.In the third part,based on the image of "civilian hero" itself,the author will deeply explore the social phenomenon that film art creators pay attention to and reflect on when creating these characters.The fourth part discusses the American cultural accumulation behind the image of "civilian hero".This chapter explains the shaping and expression of American values by the image of civilian heroes in American films,namely the macro cultural background and phenomenon reflected by it.The fifth part is that although the phenomenon of civilian hero conveys many positive spiritual connotations and values,it is undeniable that it has its own cultural and political dilemma.This chapter will discuss from the three aspects of too much emphasis on individualism,impact on cultural diversity and infiltration of cultural hegemony.The conclusion part summarizes the main point of the article,that is,through a series of case studies of classic movies,this paper finds that American movies often create heroic images and deeply bury the values they want to convey in the story plots and characters’ words and behaviors.The image of civilian heroes breaks the shackles of the role of "being a hero only if one has outstanding ability",and makes the audience realize that they can become their own or others’ heroes if they improve themselves in character,which enriches the connotation of screen heroes and plays a more extensive and far-reaching role in education.In short,the values conveyed and reflected by these civilian heroes in American films have inspired generations of American and people around the world to move towards new goals.But at the same time,the worldwide transmission of American values is soft,that is,subtle,persuasive and silent.We must treat it rationally and dialectically,and avoid one-sided and extreme attitudes such as blind worship and total negation of American culture.
