| As economic globalization is deepening,English is widely used in various aspects,both nationally and socially,which automatically provides English education with great opportunities and challenges.With the comprehensive new curriculum reform,how English will be designed in the university entrance examination,how students have to learn,how teachers have to teach and in what forms the class will become have come into notice again.However,there are certain number of students who,for a variety of reasons,are so weak in English learning that it’s so difficult for them to improve their grades.They are so poor in English that the whole class or the English,the very subject or the entire school or even the country’s education is affected deeply.These high school students with learning difficulties in English,some of whom are only weak in English and some in all subjects,are intelligently normal.Because of plenty of reasons,either historically or recently,the paper insists that by finding out the reasons,and adjusting the current teaching and learning strategies and habits efficiently,the situation can be improved,even transformed.The thesis is based on the research findings on high school students with learning difficulties in English from home and abroad.Under the support of Constructivism theory and Collaborative learning theory,by means of document,interview,questionnaire,experiment,and the analysis of a survey and the comparison of experiment in the two classes in Xilin No.4 Senior High School of Yichun City,the writer tries to state the school-based teaching materials,under the support of Constructivism theory,and Collaborative learning theory,used in the instruction in English teaching,i.e.contributing to inspiring the interest and confidence in learning English,fostering the ability to self-study,hence improving the grades of English.The reason why the writer studies high school students with learning difficulties in English is that it’s the school the writer work in and the students the writer deals with.The quality,or rather the grades of students in such schools is rather poor,far poorer than the previous studies,but more representative.Because in Yichun City alone there are seven or eight schools like this striving to survive.Furthermore,there are part of students belonging to left-behind children from both countryside and town,the single parent family and the divorced family.That is to say,the source of students is rather complicated.Therefore,the cause of the students weak in English study is also complex.Hopefully,other schools with similar problems can benefit from the strategies mentioned in the essay.The paper consists of six parts.The beginning part is introduction introducing the background,purpose,significance and methods of the research and the main innovation points.And the connotation and the causes of high school students with learning difficulty,in which the problems exist in teaching English in high school students with learning difficulty is briefly analyzed.The first part is literature review,chiefly introducing the research state at home and abroad.Thus it indicates that the problem has long been concerned.Researchers not only raise the problem but also give some of the solutions.The second part is theoretical basis,mainly states the instruction and application of Constructivism theory and Collaborative learning theory in teaching high school students with learning difficulties in English.Therefore,the writer conducts the experiment according to some of the two theories.The third part is research procedures.Aiming to solve the problem and obtain the ways and methods from the process,after giving the hypothesis,aiming at two classes in Xilin No.4 Senior High School of Yichun City,the writer adopts millionaire to find the causes in detail,then with English examination paper to compare the results of before and after experiment in order to prove the writer’s hypothesis,i.e.the methods works.Finally,the problems and the shortcomings are reflected.The fourth part is the transformation strategies.Aiming at two classes in Xilin No.4 Senior High School of Yichun City,which is divided into the experimental class and the control class.The teaching experiment is intended to last four months,and by means of tests and questionnaire,the data is collected.And then the data is analyzed via the SPSS statistical software to prove the practicability of the school-based teaching materials and Collaborative learning theory used in teaching high school students with learning difficulties.The ways of teaching and the methods and habits of studying are all adjusted to some degree.And the last part is the conclusion,summarizing the general findings during the research and obtaining inspiration in the process.Meanwhile,some suggestions are made,what the research lacks is spotted and where the future research leads are indicated. |
