The Relationship Between Socioeconomic Status And College Students’ Subject Well-being: The Moderating Role Of Social Comparison Orientation And Mediating Role Of Belief In A Just World

With the improvement of living standard and the vigorous development of positive psychology,subjective well-being has become a research hotspot in human cognition,behavior and emotional researches.As the family socioeconomic status being the background of the individual culture and economic,the belief in a just world being important psychological resources of human beings,and the social comparison being an important means of self cognition,the subjective well-being of college students to a certain extent is affected by these three factors.This study explores the family socioeconomic status,the relationship between belief in a just world,as well as the relationship between the social comparison tendency and the subjective well-being of college students.Randomly choose 650 students in Tianjin University as research participants.Subjective Well-being scale and the family socioeconomic status questionnaire(including objective economic status and subjective economic status)were adopted.The belief in a just world scale and the social comparison tendency scale were standardized tests.The results of the study found that:(1)There is a significant positive correlation between the social economic status of the objective family socioeconomic status,and subjective family socioeconomic status of the college sutdents,the relevant level was medium correlation.(2)Objective family socioeconomic status and subjective family socioeconomic status significantly predicted the subjective well-being of college students.The subjective family socioeconomic status had stronger,predictive ability.(3)The impartial world belief played a mediating role between the subjective family socioeconomic status and the subjective well-being of college students.(4)The social comparison tendency played a moderating role in the above intermediary effect.The family economic status of college students with higher social comparision tendency was more effective in predicting belief in a just world and the subjective happiness.Under the circumstance of high social comparison tendency,the intermediary effect of the belief of belief in a just world was more remarkable.The intermediary effect disappeared under the circumstance of low social comparison tendency.
