A New Exploration Of "nothing" In Schopenhauer’s Philosophy Of Will | | Posted on:2019-12-06 | Degree:Master | Type:Thesis | | Country:China | Candidate:R F Gao | Full Text:PDF | | GTID:2405330596954945 | Subject:philosophy | | Abstract/Summary: | PDF Full Text Request | | This paper is based on Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will of "nothing",which consists of five parts.The first part is the introduction,introducing the research background and the research status at home and abroad,in order to clarify the theme of the paper.The study of Schopenhauer from the perspective of Mahayana Buddhism is still insufficient,and there is hardly any study of Schopenhauer from the perspective of systematic Upanishad thought.It is of some tentative and innovative significance for the author to explore Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will under the background of both.The second part,starting with Schopenhauer’s ethics,leads to Schopenhauer’s question about "nothing" in the philosophy of will,that is,to deny the will,to act with abstinence as the motive,the consequence of voluntary suffering,its ethical significance is "nirvana",which is what Schopenhauer calls "nothing" at the level of cognition.The third part compares the "nothingness" of Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will with the "emptiness" of Buddhism Prajna,and finds the similarities and differences between them.The "emptiness" of Mahayana Buddhism is based on its origin,so it is not a complete "nothingness".The "nothingness" of Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will shows the characteristics of nihilism.It elaborates the ontological thought of Upanishad in different periods,and compares Schopenhauer’s will ontology with that of Upanishad’s.From the perspective of Upanishad ’s ontology,Schopenhauer’s will ontology concept of thing in itself is gradually changing,that is,from the will of transcendental consciousness to the "nihility" of knowledge,but Schopenhauer does not seem to give up the entity of being,ends his philosophy of will with nirvana of Buddhism,and it is believed that there is something after nirvana,so it falls into mysticism.The fifth part is the conclusion,which summarizes and summarizes the core points of this paper and raises new questions.Schopenhauer regards will as a free thing in his early period,which is influenced by the k Upanishad awareness thought if possible.Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will in the later period leads to "nothing",which can be regarded as the influence of Buddhist meditation thought.Schopenhauer’s exploration of the real existence in a negative way has certain enlightening significance,but it is still not thorough.Through the exploration of "Nothing" in Schopenhauer’s philosophy of will,the author believes that there are similarities between the East and the West in the exploration of the true existence.It is of positive significance to interpret the oriental literature from the Western perspective and to reflect on the western philosophy with the research results. | | Keywords/Search Tags: | Schopenhauer, will, Upanishad, existence, nothing | PDF Full Text Request | Related items |
