| Textbooks are the basis of teachers’ teaching and students’ learning tools,and are also the key to achieve English Curriculum Goals.In recent years,with further development of curriculum reform in our country,various versions of English textbooks are pouring into the market.So it is important that analysis and evaluate which version of textbook is better to conform to the requirements of English curriculum standards,to meet the demands of students at that time,to promote the comprehensive ability of students to use language.The research object of the thesis are junior English teaching materials of Go For It Version and NSE Version.According to the criterion of English curriculum standards(the version of 2017)and adopting to Grant’s teaching evaluation theory,this paper will compare and analyze two sets of junior English teaching materials of Go For It Version and NSE Version,which are widely used by Chinese.By using the methods of documentation,comparison,statistics,SPSS and EXCEL,this paper will discuss the similarities and differences between the two sets of textbooks in details in five aspects of language knowledge,namely,phonetics,vocabulary,grammar,function and topic.The purpose is to put forward some thoughts and suggestions for the compilers and users of textbooks.Through comparative research,we can draw the following conclusions: First,the two parts of the textbook’s phonetics,vocabulary,and grammar are basically in line with the requirements of the English New Curriculum Standards(2017 edition),but there are few missing aspects in the content layout;The functions and topics in the two editions of the textbooks do not meet the requirements of the new curriculum standards.The functional items and topics required in new curriculum standards are not arranged in thetextbooks.Second,most teachers are satisfied with the layout of the two textbooks on pronunciation,vocabulary,grammar,function and topic,and most students think that these two sets of teaching materials are more practical,and they can learn a wealth of language knowledge from these two sets of textbooks.But There are still many students who think that it is difficult to learn grammar.Therefore,both teachers and textbook writers should pay attention to the integration and simplification of grammatical content and pay attention to students’ ability of acceptance.In addition,the layout of functional items and topics in the two editions of the textbooks does not meet the needs of students.Many students are not interested in this,so it needs further improvement. |
