Reading is of great significance in senior high school English learning,but many problems still exist in reading teaching.Firstly,teachers,especially those who do not continue to study after joining their work,are lagging behind in the currently updated teaching methods,which makes them fall behind the pace of curriculum reform.Secondly,under the high pressure of the College Entrance Examination,many teachers treat scores as the ultimate goal of teaching reading so that they pay little attention to the cultivation of students'interest in reading,which makes them feel reading learning difficult and tedious.Lastly,although class teaching time is limited,teachers still always ignore applying teaching skills to improve their teaching efficiency.Since the new curriculum reform,using competitions to promote normal class teaching has become a new trend of optimizing classroom English teaching.Therefore,English reading classes for competition are rather representative and well worth studying by front-line teachers to improve the efficiency of reading teaching.This research selects all the seven reading teaching classes chosen from the 6th English High-Quality Class Competition of Senior High School Teachers in Zunyi,Guizhou Province to analyze the current situations of senior high school reading teaching in high-quality class competition and investigate the factors influencing the efficiency of reading teaching in it.It focuses on three questions:?1?What are the current situations of English reading teaching in senior high school high-quality classes for competition??2?What are the factors influencing the teachers'efficient reading teaching??3?How can their efficiency of reading teaching be improved?This study explores teachers'reading teaching from four aspects:lead-in skills,questioning skills,evaluation skills and teacher-student interactive skills.Through careful observation,data collection and analysis,the author finds out problems existing in the teachers'reading teaching and analyses the factors influencing the teaching efficiency.Based on the research findings,this thesis puts forward reading teaching suggestions for front-line senior high school English teachers.
