| Since the first white paper was published in 1991,China has issued many white papers concerning various subjects.They are aimed to accurately and comprehensively expound the policy propositions of Chinese government on major issues,as well as the achievements made in international exchanges.As a result,the white papers have received worldwide attention.Meanwhile,the translation workload of white papers has kept increasing,and the requirements for translators have also been raised.The key to the translation of white papers is to convey the original information as faithfully as possible.Skopos Theory can help translators choose proper translation strategies and realize the function of white papers.This paper makes a study of translation on white papers from the perspective of Skopos Theory,based on the translation of Development of China’s Public Health as an Essential Element of Human Rights.By taking examples from the translation,it analyzes the application of domestication and foreignization strategies adopted.In terms of domestication,it focus on abbreviation,conversion and reverse translation methods;and concerning foreignization,it lies particular emphasis on literal translation and free translation methods.Through the analysis of white paper’s translation,it hopes to provide some study references for future translation. |
