Proactive interference refers to the phenomena that previous learning and memory for subsequent interference effect of the project.Previous studies have shown that the paticipants,proactive interference monitoring has a deviation,but how to eliminate the deviation of proactive interference monitoring and if proactive interference can be reduced or overcome is still unclear.This study investigates the monitoring of proactive interference,and whether learning-testing experience could improve the monitoring and control of the proactive interference.The present study report 3 experiments about whether whether learning-testing experience could improve the monitoring and control of the proactive interference.One hundred and two college students of normal vision,forty in Experiment 1,thirty one in Experiment 2 and thirty one in Experiment 3 were enrolled to participate.Firstly,it inspects whether participants can realize proactive interference effect in Experiment 1;the learning materials are divided into the control and interference conditions conformed to A-B,C-D and A-B,A-D arrangements.In the experiment,therefore,participants were asked to report their recall rate estimation in immediate JoL or delay JoL conditions.Then,it inspects whether participants become aware of proactive interference with the learning-testing experience in Experiment 2,only considering the delay JoL conditions.In the end,a self-allocated study time procedure is used to show that learning-testing experience with proactive interference was required for participants to become aware of and reduce its effects in Experiment 3.Memory accuracy and JoL level are recorded by E-prime program in Experiment land2;the time that was allocated for each sort of items as well as the memory peformence are recorded by E-prime program in Experiment 3.Data was analyzed by SPSS 18.0.The results showed that:(1)the monitoring of proactive interference has a deviation,and even worse in delay judgment conditions.(2)with the study-learning experience,the deviation of monitoring in delay judgment conditions can be modified.(3)with the study-learning experience,paticipants allocate more attention to interference items during in the second study round than in the first.(4)the paticipants who spent more time in the second study round will allocate more attention to interference items,thus they can completely overcome proactive interference effect.To sum up,these results can be interpreted as showing that the learning-testing experience with proactive interference enhances awareness of its effects and allows individuals to adjust their learning and retrieval strategies to compensate for such effects in a appropriate way.
