Study On The Food Coupons Of Jiangxi Province In New China(1955-1966)

China has the most food stamps,grain and oil stamps,which have a wide scope,diverse variety and a long period of time in the word.It can be called “the best of the world”.After the founding of the People’s Republic of China,the food ticket is printed and distributed in order to alleviate the problem of insufficient living materials under the general environment of the planned economy.It takes the general food tickets as the main distribution target,and the daily non-staple food tickets as the fixed supply ticket certificate.After the founding in 1949,the Chinese government began to plan to use the mean of planned supply to deal with the lives of the people in the face of a chaotic economic market.In 1955,the first food stamps began to circulate in the Chinese market.At that time,the government only used it as a temporary means to solve the problem.However,the subsequent development was unexpected.In other areas,tickets had also appeared.Until 1993,the food stamps withdraw from the market.This period is a very special period of Chinese history,which is a epitome and symbol of the planned economy era in a sense.This study will select “Jiangxi Provincial Food Stamps in the Early Years after the Founding of the People’s Republic of China” as the object,and discuss the issues such as printing,distribution,and the use of food stamps and the changes in people’s daily lives under the influence of food stamps.It will also display the food stamp as the core content of the food planned supply system,which played an important role in the food purchase and sales policy,and ensure the industrialization and social stability.In addition,the food stamps in Jiangxi Province are thewitness and epitome of the changing socio-economic and cultural processes.The large-scale distribution and circulation of food stamps would have a great impact on people’s social life.Influenced by this,people had formed a fixed consumption awareness and consumption patterns.However,it also blocked the communication between urban and rural areas and caused some undesirable social problems.The food stamps played a significant role in the entire national economy and circulation.It not only served as a currency function under the planned economic system,but had economic attributes and became an economic weapon that defeated urban and rural capitalism.It brought out ticket economy phenomenon.In addition,the design of food stamps reflected the cultural development of a certain period of time.Through the study,it is possible to explore the details of politics,economy,culture,etc.under the planned economic system,and thus deepen the understanding of the planned economy.
