An English-Chinese Translation Practice Report On Ruhrpumpen ZW Installation,Operation And Maintenance Manual Under The Guidance Of Skopostheorie

With the in-depth development of globalization,the demand for technical exchanges in various countries has deepened,and the import of mechanical products has also increased.The increasing technical exchange of mechanical products between China and Western countries has greatly stimulated the demand,import and export of pumps,thus,the demand for Chinese translation of pump product instruction manuals has also increased dramatically.The material of this translation practice report comes from Ruhrpumpen ZW installation,operation and maintenance manual,and this report mainly discusses the following contents:In the first part,it briefly introduces the translation project the analysis of the research status,and the significance of the research.Then it introduces the process of the translation.In the third part,it introduces the three principles of Skopostheorie and its significance to the Chinese translation.Afterwards,it selects some examples to analyze.Firstly,it studies the translation of terms from the lexical level,mainly including the translation of polysemy and pump terminology,meanwhile,it studies the treatment of nominal structure,mainly transforming it into verb-object construction or adjectives,and then it analyzes the passive sentence,imperative sentence and difficult sentence translation from the syntactic level.The passive sentence is translated into sentence with no subject active sentence or words with passive meanings in Chinese.It employs the imethod of adding polite expression,using warning words,and using adverbs to express emphasis in the imperative sentence.Finally,it uses linear translation and adjustment of words order method to translate the long sentences;In the last part,it introduces the post-translation experience,summarizes the translation literacy and reflects the problems and deficiencies during the practice.Through this translation practice,the author hopes to explore the feasible methods of pump texts translation,thus providing reference for the translation of future pump texts and making contribution to the promotion of transnational technology and trade cooperation.
