| Hanshiwaizhuan is a famous poetic classic in the Western Han Dynasty—which is of great significance to the study of poetic viewpoints of Han Dynasty.Although there have been study results in the field of Hanshiwaizhuan,no systematic and coherent point of view has been formed in the study of quoting The Book of Songs in it.Related studies are only scattered in various essays.This essay aims at making a more step forward to the study of quoting The Book of Songs in Hanshiwaizhuan by analyzing the quoting ways,the poetic thoughts and the book’s influences to Xinxu.According to "The Historical Records of Confucian Scholars",Hanshiwaizhuan was probably written no other than during the period of Xiaowen and Xiaojing Emperor’s reign.In the early Western Han Dynasty,the peaceful and inactive Huang-Lao thought,the economic policy of reducing the burden of the people,the inheriting of Qin’s political system and the good natural environment had created a favorable social environment for Han Ying to write Hanshiwaizhuan.There are three ways to quote The Book of Songs in Hanshiwaizhuan.That is,to embed it in the text,to affix it to the end or to quote it in a particular way.There is also a correlation between the quoting of The Book of Songs and the textual arrangement in Hanshiwaizhuan.From the quoting ways and the relationship between quoting and textual arrangement,the relationship between the quotation of the Book of Songs and the narrative can be clearer.Differences exist in quantity and quoting ways when comparing the quoting of The Book of Songs in Hanshiwaizhuan and Xinxu.However,there are still some chapters in which the quoting of The Book of Songs and the events discussed coincide at the same time.From which we can see the influences of Hanshiwaizhuan on its subsequent works in quoting The Book of Songs.the poetic thoughts in quoting The Book of Songs in Hanshiwaizhuan are reflected from the following aspects: the Praise-Satire Theory used in criticism,and the mention of good or ill luck when criticizing.His poetic thoughts was influenced not only by Confucius,Mencius and Xunzi,but also the social thoughts of the Western Han Dynasty.On absorbing and inheriting others’ poetic thoughts,he further developed his own to adapt to the development of society. |
