A Strong Promoter Of The Chinese Modern Dance Revival In The History Of Chinese And American Dance Exchanges

Charles Reinhart is an essential pioneer in the history of modern dance.He has been the president of ADF for 43 years.He is a rare and outstanding art manager,art agent and art consultant.His outstanding contribution to modern dance has led authoritative dance critics to say that "He was born for modern dance".He worked with Yang Meiqi to bring American modern dance to China and created the first modern dance experimental class also a professional modern dance company since China’s "reform and opening up".Since then,contemporary dance began to develop in China.After more than 30 years of development,the first generation of Guangdong Modern Dance Class which grew up under his cultivation has been one of the most influential groups in Chinese modern dance.This thesis is divided into three chapters.It takes Charles Reinhart as the research object by sorting out the relevant historical fact of cultural exchange activities between China and America,also combining his previous achievements of helping Chinese modern dance in ADF international exchange project.it also tries to explore the meaning and management experience of modern dance development based on decades of his artistic career and summarize his contributions to modern dance development in China.This paper pays tribute to his great contribution to the revival of Chinese modern dance.The first chapter briefly described the development history of Chinese modern dance from its establishment to 1986 with the clue of time.Chinese modern dance developed rapidly from the ground to skyscraper after 1986 because it was led by Charles Reinhart and Yang Meiqi.The second chapter tries to restore the historical path of how Reinhart helped establishing Guangdong experimental modern dance company,and how Chinese modern dance and American modern dance merged and developed.From the perspective of other historical witnesses,this chapter analyzes and proves Reinhardt’s modern dance ideology and art management ability.The third chapter conducts analysis on the basis of first two chapter by putting the historical process of cultural exchange into the whole internationalization project of Reinhart,and finally summarizes and sublimates modern art management experience of Reinhardt.
