Since the 1980 s,American independent film has entered a golden period of its own. After experiencing the rise of Sundance Film Festival, the all-round involvement of Hollywood major studios and the genre-transformation,it reached a peak with the dazzling performance of No Country for Old Men and Juno and other films at the 2008 Oscar awards. However, with the outbreak of the financial crisis, the development of the Internet and digital culture, and the rise of streaming media,Independent film is facing a completely new social reality and industrial environment of high-speed fission. The production mode and style of works are either actively or passively changing and responding. The new generation of Independent film directors, represented by the brothers Joshua Safdie and Ben Safdie, have created new realistic images with new methods and styles in some traditions in Independent film.At the same time, the old mode of seeing is no longer applicable to these new images. It calls on the audience to try a new mode that releases the senses. This study will carry out aesthetic and industrial analysis on this group of new filmmakers and their works,as well as the current industrial environment in Independent film,in order to open up a new direction of thinking in our film production and ways of seeing.
