A Report On The E-C Translation Of Design For Motion:Motion Design Techniques & Fundamentals

This is a practical report,based on my E-C translation of English textbook:Design for Motion:Motion Design Techniques&Fundamentals.The textbook is used by the motion design students in Savannah College of Art and Design,USA,firstly published by Focal Press in 2016.The book consists of the following parts:the origin of motion design,the indispensable elements and guided theories of motion design,the core tools for motion design,the detailed image-making,visual aesthetics creation and case analysis and the other contents.College students majored in motion design or readers who are interested in motion design(motion designer)will be its potential readers.Shanghai Language Services Center for Cultural Trade is authorized by the Focal Press to translate it into Chinese in August,2016.As a member of the translation team,this report records the whole translation process,including:the project introduction,stylistic description,translation process description,case analysis and conclusion.The textbook belongs to the informative text with the terminology and acronym involved different fields.Simple sentences,long complex sentences and passive sentences frequently appear with complete structure and accurate expression.Further,the textbook is to pursuit the sense of beauty(visually and aurally)on the basis of narrative.The report includes project background,text stylistic features,translation process,and analysis of translation problems and solutions.The application of domestication and foreignization in the translation of informative textbook is discussed.Based on the correct and accurate translation,the potential readers’ horizon expectation and reading experience are also discussed.Finally,the report ends with the conclusion of personal experiences and some suggestions for the future translation.
