This is an translation report. The source texts is Capacity Building through Efficient Use of Existing Airport Infrastructure,co-published by Organization for Economic Co-operation and Development(OECD)and International Transportation Forum(ITF).Based on the case study of several international congested airports in cosmopolitan areas, the source text analyses some utilization effect of the existing airports infrastructure and their operation and administration models. It is indicated that administrative management can be adopted for rational slot allocation to build capacity of the existing airports without building new airport infrastructure.Based on the guidance of Peter Newmark’s Text Category Theory, this is a professional technical information article, mainly related to some background information about airport operations and management and airport infrastructure construction. The article frequently uses the name of the institutions, economic, technical, legal and other related terms as well as long and difficult sentences and passive sentences. Therefore, the author adopts the communicative translation principle as the guidance and analyses the guiding role of the principle for information articles, striving to ensure the consistent style of the original text and targeted text.In view of the difficulties encountered in words, phrases and sentences during the process of translation, the author made a full preparation for translation, and used translation techniques such as conversion, diversion, inversion and change of voice in the translating process to make the translation both faithful and readable.
