| The Italian composer Luigi Nono,an avant-garde representative and total serialism successor,devoted his life to the search for new composing techniques and timbre,ventured in the fields of various musical genres.Nono is an anti-fascist communist,and his life was besieged by war.Premiered on October24,1956,Il Canto Sospeso,one of the most admired works of Nono’s composing career,scoring soprano,soprano and tenor solo,mixed chorus and orchestra,was conceived to commemorate the resistance fighters of all nations during World War II.It is also one representative pieces of the total serialism.The transformation of music text is a process in which the composer transforms ideologies into music score,which means that the objects such as sequence,image,lyrics and so on are expressed in the form of music score.This article,through the analysis of Il Canto Sospeso,attempts to decipher: how to convert sequences,images and other materials into musical texts,how to determine the structure through various parameters,and the uniqueness of the work’s performance and composing techniques.The introduction incorporates both domestic and foreign researches on said work,emphasizes the basis and significance of the choosing of this thesis.The next section analyzes how music text is transformed with abstract objects such as numbers,forms,lyrics and so on in the view of serialism.The article concludes on the creative characteristics of the work,its historical significance and impact on modern music.It is the author’s wish that through the study of Il Canto Sospeso,this article can provide concrete technical references for contemporary composers,and incentivize their practices and innovation. |
