| Political documents are the main sources for the international community to understand China.Spanish is one of the six official languages of the United Nations,and ranks the second only to Chinese in terms of the number of native speakers.It covers 23 countries and regions,most of which are in Latin America,a land with strategic significance and broad prospects for China’s diplomacy.Comparing the English and Spanish translations is undoubtedly a good way to understand the status quo of political translation.The year of 2018 is the beginning of the full implementation of the spirit of the 19th Party Congress The government work report released at the beginning of the year has important guiding significance and it is worthy studying its translation.The theory of eco-translatology explores how to translate from the perspective of ecology,emphasizing that translators should ensure the translation "grows" into the ecology of the original language through his or her adaptation and choices,which is in line with the needs of China to tell its stories to the world.This paper compares the English and Spanish translation of 10 political terms of the report from the perspective of eco-traslatology.It is found that the two versions use different translation strategies,and both have their own gains and losses:the English translation is more flexible in the language dimension and the cultural dimension,in accordance with the habits of expression and among others.However,in the communication dimension,due to its flexible strategies,the translation is sometimes incomplete with some important information neglected.In contrast,the Spanish translation better reflect the structure of original frases in the in the language dimension,but it is not flexible enough in the cultural and communication dimensions.Based on the two translations and the features above mentioned,the author gives her suggestions to the revision of the Spanish version,and vice versa. |
