| As an important part of the four skills of foreign language,reading plays an important role in English teaching.However,in the current junior high school teaching,teachers still plays the important role in teaching English reading,this way will ignore the cultivation of students’ interests in learning English and the application of reading strategies.Aiming at this question,a new learning model,the blended learning model,which combines Face-to-Face with online learning,are becoming the main trend of modern teaching.This study attempts to explore the role of blended learning model in junior high school students’ English reading learning,and to solve the practical questions in the traditional teacher-centered reading teaching.Three research questions are to be addressed:1.What effects does the blended learning model have on Junior high school students’ attitudes toward English reading?2.What effects does the blended learning model have on Junior high school students’ reading strategies?3.What extent can the blended learning model enhance the Junior high students’ English reading achievements?The empirical study was carried out in Haicheng No.8 Junior Middle School in Liaoning Province.It lasted 12 weeks from September 5,2018 to January 10,2019.Eighty-six students from two parallel classes in the first grade of junior middle school were selected as subjects.One class in the two parallel classes serves as the experimental class and the second class serves as the control class.Research devices consist of questionnaires,tests and interviews.By means of SPSS 19.0 system,qualitative and quantitative methods analyze all the data which were collected in the study.The research results show that the blended learning model can arouse the EC students’ enthusiasm for learning English and make the EC students use reading strategies more frequently.Additionally,the EC students’ reading achievements have been greatly improved.Therefore,it is feasible to apply the blended learning model to English reading teaching.Finally,the author discusses the enlightenment and suggestions obtained from the study,and hopes that this can give some enlightenment to students’ learning,teachers’ teaching and future researches. |
