A Report On The Translation Of Unscaled:How AI And A New Generation Of Upstarts Are Creating The Economy Of The Future (Chapter 6 & 7)

This is a report on the translation of the book Unscaled: How AI and a New Generation of Upstarts Are Creating the Economy of the Future co-written by Hemant Taneja and Kevin Maney.The Chapter 6 and Chapter 7 mainly analyze how the banking industry and the media industry break the traditional scale economy and use artificial intelligence to develop the unscaled development model.The selected parts cite and analyze many successful cases of small and emerging enterprises competing with large enterprises by developing niche markets and providing users with personalized services,which will provide a reference for the development model of the economy as well as the research of artificial intelligence in the future.It is also a good practical chance for the translator to improve the translation skills.Taking Peter Newmark’s text typology and communicative translation as the guiding theories,the translator combines these theories with linguistic features of the source text and raises a series of effective methods to deal with two major difficulties during translating.As to the translation of polysemy,diction and extension will be adopted.As to the translation of dash,transcription,omission and replacement will be used,aiming to ensure the accurate information transmission of the source text as well as the readability of target text.
