Stone relief,a feature of the Han dynasty,were mainly found in tombs,stone que and ancestral temples.The cart and horse images not only reflect the financial resources of the tomb owner,but also reflect the social situation and people’s ideological situation at that time.As the hometown of dynastic title of Liu Bang,Xuzhou area was also unshakable in the Han dynasty,although there were many Vassal King and marquis in the eastern Han dynasty.Although the caravans and horses in the stone reliefs here do not reflect the scenes of the life of the vassal Kings in the Han dynasty,most of them are the embodiment of the life of the upper nobles and the life of the lower officials and a few ordinary people.This paper summarizes the characteristics and classifies the images of horses and chariots in Xuzhou stone reliefs,so as to provide materials for the study of the images of horses and chariots in the whole stone reliefs.This essay mainly studies on the cart and horse images of the Xuzhou stone relief in Han dynasty from the following five chapters:Chapter one: introduction.This paper introduces the research background and methods,and summarizes the research situation at home and abroad.The discovery of stone reliefs in China is relatively early,but most of the studies are after the founding of the People’s Republic of China.There are many works abroad on the related research,but mostly on the study of horse-and-cart travel images.Chapter two: The excavation of portrait stones with horse and chariot images in Xuzhou area.There are many stone portraits unearthed from Han tombs in Xuzhou area,but few of them date back to ancient times.Many of them belong to the Re-using Han Sculptured Stone Tombs,which are difficult to be divided into stages.In addition,there are many stone reliefs collected from various places in Xuzhou.Chapter three: Classification of portrait stones containing horse and chariot images in Xuzhou area.Firstly,it is difficult to classify by time,so it is classified according to the tomb shape,unearthed objects and sculpture techniques.Secondly,it is classified according to the overall content,mainly for the Carriages and Hoarsening on a Journey and Images of tied horses,and subdivided the Carriages Hoarsening on a journey.Finally,it is classified according to the real life and fairyland,and subdivided them.Chapter four: the study of the image of horses and chariots in stone relief.Among them,the main study take the issue of Cart,destination of the horse-and-cart travel and the number of horses driving the carriage.Chapter five:conclusion.It summarizes the main contents of the full text and the important points in each chapter,and points out the shortcomings of this paper.
