Based on the Skopos Theory, this study applies different research methods, such as reference data collection and comparative analysis. The purpose of this study is to find out the advantages and disadvantages of Rao and Bi’s translation. The author chooses the Chinese versions of Rao Shuyi and Bi Bingbin(Hei Ma)as a case for study, and tries to make the comparative analysis from the lexical, syntactic and textual levels, which means from the micro perspective to macro perspective. It is found that the translation purposes of these two translators are different which made them to resort to different translation strategies.Rao once had mentioned in his preface that he hopes to enlighten the ignorant people and lead them to a bright future by this book..Therefore,his translation always tried to be faithful to style and words in the original text.Bi took more account of the two factors which is the publishing company and target readers,so that he made the adjustments and deletion in his translation.Generally speaking, the translation strategies adopted by the two translators are various. Both of the two versions have their own merits and shortcomings.Rao’s language is bold and direct, just like the source text;his translation is often limited in the syntactic structure of English, while the words that Bi chooses are more euphemistic, and the translation techniques are more mature,so his translation is more in line with the reading habits of Chinese readers.By making an analysis and comparison of the two versions,it hopes the paper can be used for reference for other translation enthusiasts.
