Study On Ecological Ethics Of The Four Books Of Confucian

Since the Industrial Revolution,the progress of science and technology has promoted the development of economy,but it has also caused serious ecological environment problems,which make mankind face severe ecological crisis.In the process of exploring the ideological and cultural roots of ecological crisis and seeking the solution to ecological crisis,more and more scholars pay attention to the ecological ethics thought contained in Confucian philosophy.Since Song Dynasty,the Analects of Confucius,Mencius,the Doctrine of the Mean and the Great Learning have been called the "Four Books".They are the classical texts worshipped by Confucianism and the concentrated embodiment of the core ideas of Confucianism.This paper takes the four Confucian books as the research object,and explores the ecological ethics thought in the four Confucian books from the perspective of ecological ethics,and seeks its internal connection.The thought of "nature and providence" in The Analects of Confucianism is the foundation of Confucian ecological ethics.The thought of "benevolence" implied in the Analects of Confucianism reaches the heaven,runs through human nature,and has the inherent trend of connecting heaven and man.Mencius inherits the thought of benevolence in The Analects of Confucius and extends to the ecological ethical concern of "benevolence to the people and love things",laying the foundation of Confucian ecological ethical thought.The Doctrine of the Mean connects the Analects of Confucius and Mencius with "sincerity" and "counsellor-oriented education",which establishes the dominant position of human virtue in nature,and makes Confucian ecological ethics different from Anthropocentrism and naturalism.The path of ecological self-cultivation put forward by the Great Learning provides us with resources of ecological moral self-cultivation,which has important enlightenment and reference significance for today’s cultivation of ecological citizens.Therefore,Four Books of Confucian contain abundant ecological ethics thoughts,which are systematic and important ideological resources for the construction of ecological ethics and ecological civilization in China.
