A Study On The Thematic Film Of "Comfort Women" From The Perspective Of Media Memory

The "comfort women" system refers to a military slave system that the Japanese government served in the war of aggression against Asia during the Second World War.It mainly forced women in China,North Korea,Japan,Southeast Asia and other places by means of deception and coercion.After more than 70 years,the publicly known "comfort women" have passed away.For the protection of document records and the integrity of human memory,eight countries and regions reported the voice of "comfort women" to UNESCO in 2016.By 2018,the number of "comfort women" in the hundreds of thousands has been reduced to 27 Korean "comfort women" living and 8 Chinese "comfort women" living in the world.Faced with these realities,the "comfort women" feature films are constantly emerging.As a way of expressing social and artistic integration,film has become an important way to spread this historical truth and express historical attitudes.The "comfort women" special film shows different attitudes towards the historical events of "comfort women" in different periods and different countries,affecting the individual memory of "comfort women",constructing the collective memory of "comfort women" and forming "comfort women" media memory.The concept of media memory was first proposed in 2007 and has a complete theoretical framework in 2011.Studying the "comfort women" special film from the perspective of media memory can better understand how film is connected to history as a media product,construct a historical memory space,and develop memory practice in this space.This paper first attempts to analyze and expand the theory of film media memory,grasp the inner working mechanism of film media,and summarize the operation mechanism of film media memory at different levels.This article takes 13 "comfort women" special films from China,South Korea and Japan as the research object,discusses the memory theme,film image and main events of the "comfort women" special film,analysis the "comfort women" special film is connected with history through the construction methods such as highlighting and forgetting,imagery and metaphor,narrative attitude and narrative perspective,and exploring the shortcomings of the "comfort women" special film at this stage,reflecting on the same historical film,expecting helping the spread and development of similar thematic films.The study of the "comfort women" special film not only enriched the media memory,but also completely restored human memory,so that people in peacetime revisit the war,and also comforted the people who suffered in the war with the artistry of the film.
