The Artistic Conception Of English Metaphysical Poetry In The 17th Century

Metaphysical school of poetry is very rare and very important poetry trend appearing at the end of 16th century to 17th century in Britain.However,it is not the western vocabulary but the Chinese words "artistic conception" that can best describe the profound significance of this school of poetry.As long as we are good at discovering things,we will find the artistic conception of the western poetry as well,especially the English metaphysical poetry in the 17th century.In order to have a more comprehensive view of the metaphysical poetry artistic conception,this article witnesses such kind of poetry not only from the special artistic conception theory in our country,but also from the theory of New Criticism based on metaphysical poetry to clarify itself,The New Criticism theory,especially theories by Eliot(T.S.Eliot,1888-1965)whose fate was deeply related to the metaphysical poetry.By doing so,this article discusses the reasons for the formation of metaphysical poetry artistic characteristics and its constituent elements.Metaphysical school of poetry appeared in China in the 1930s and 1940s,and then it took root and sprouted in the environment of Chinese new poetry.As a result,our country has metaphysical poetry with Chinese characteristics.We can find the answer from the creation of the "nine leaves" poetry school whether the metaphysical poetry’s artistic conception can blend in the Chinese ancient poetry’s artistic conception.
