In May 2018,the 2018 ASEAN Omnimedia Seminar, hosted by the Ministry of Commerce of China and by the China-ASEAN Expo Secretariat, was officially opened in Nanning.17 reporters and journalists from ASEAN countries were invited to participate in the seminar and go to Liuzhou for a field visit. This activity aimed at helping the ASEAN countries media to understand China in a comprehensive and in-depth way,and strengthen the exchanges and cooperation between the two sides so as to report China accurately and objectively. The author was privileged to be the consecutive interpreter of the field trip to Liuzhou, thus gaining the source of rich corpus for the report. This report consists of five parts, namely task description,pre-interpreting preparation, theoretical basis, case study, and conclusion. This meeting focused on the current development and future potential of Liuzhou, and emphasized the regional culture features of Liuzhou. Therefore, greater requirements were made for interpreters in terms of encyclopedic knowledge, beforehand preparation,on-site performance, handling of unexpected situations. This is also the focus of this paper-the concrete demonstration of the above issues in real situations.Based on Danica Seleskovitch’s Interpretive Theory of Translation and Hans Robert Jauss’s Reception Theory, the whole text will analyze the distinctive features of the interpreted content, namely the intensive ethnic styles, overloaded listening comprehension, speakers’spontaneous text adjustment, target audience with poor English proficiency, explore the general patterns of these phenomenon and propose some coping strategies for reference.
