| Air pollution has become a worldwide environmental issue which is inextricably linked with the economy and politics of a country. In recent years, there are increasing numbers of fog and haze weather events, resulting in serious influence on the public and ecosystem. The EU countries have been adopting stringent legislation and standard to fight against air pollution so that a striking effect has been achieved. The EU legal action is worthwhile for us to learn or use for reference. In this case, the E-C translation of environmental scientific report is of great significance. The source text of this present translation report is an excerpt from UK Plan for Tackling Roadside Nitrogen Dioxide Concentrations,a report composed by the Department for Environment,Food&Rural Affairs and Department for Transport on 26 July,2017.As an environmental report, the informativity and readability of the target text should be emphasized. On the basis of the translation practice, the translation report consists of four chapters:Chapter One describes the translation task, including background information of the source text, features of the text and objectives and significance of the practice.Chapter Two deals with the process of translation, including the preliminary preparation, translation process and quality control.Chapter Three,a major part of the report, analyzes the cases in accordance with Text Typology at the lexical, syntactic, and discourse levels.Chapter Four presents the inspiration and experience of the author during the process of translation.Through translation practice along with report writing,it can be concluded that environmental science reports as informative texts should focus on the transmission of their referential contents to readers. In consequence, when rendering such English environmental texts,a translator should first consider stylistic and linguistic features of the source text to ensure that the version transmits the content objectively and then he or she should employ skills and strategies under the guidance of Text Typology Theory. |
