| With the arrival of the information age of 21st century,information technology has a great impact on education.Micro-video assisted instruction has become an indispensable part of our daily teaching.The students at Taicang Middle School are weak at English.They often fail in the entrance examination.Most of them can’t follow the teachers in class and they have no confidence or interest in learning English.Under the circumstances,the author tries micro-video assisted instruction in English teaching,expecting to prove that the method can improve students’interest in English as well as their English level.In order to find out the influence of micro-video assisted instruction on students’English learning,this study mainly adopts experimental method,combined with questionnaire survey method and test method.A one-semester teaching experiment has been carried out among 70 students in two parallel classes of Xinqu Middle School in Taicang,Jiangsu.The experimental class is taught with micro-video assisted instruction while the controlled class with the traditional teaching method.Based on the research purposes,this study attempts to answer the following two research questions:1.Can micro-video assisted instruction improve students’ interest in learning English?2.Can micro-video assisted instruction improve students’ abilities in listening,grammar,vocabulary,reading and writing?After the careful study and analysis,the main findings of the study are summarized as follows:First,compared with the traditional teaching approach,micro-video assisted instruction can improve students’ interest in learning English.Second,it can be found that the achievements of the students in the experimental class are significantly higher than those in the controlled class through SPSS analysis of the post-test results.And the students of the experimental class gets higher test scores in listening,grammar and vocabulary than in reading and writing.Through the study,the author has made some findings which have positive implications on teaching:micro-video assisted instruction helps improve the students’interest in English and efficiency in teaching.It is worth adopting in the author’s school.In the process of applying micro-video assisted instruction,teachers should pay attention to choosing suitable micro-videos. |
