| As an active critic and novelist,power has always been the central theme of arundhati Roy’s works.Roy’s literature work always dissects and criticizes the evil and cruelty of power from the perspective of the underlying people and vulnerable groups.This paper takes two novels of Roy,The God of Small Things and The Ministry of Utmost Happiness as the research objects,and starts from the perspective of power.This paper analyzes the power world in Roy’s works from three dimensions:the form of power,the mode of power operation and the meaning of Roy’s power writing.It consist of four parts as following:The introduction part sorts out and analyzes the domestic and foreign research status of Roy’s two works,and expounds the significance and purpose of the topic selection.The first chapter analyzes the power forms of Roy’s works.Caste power,gender power,political power and imperialist power are the core contents of Roy’s works.The second chapter explores the operation of power.Space is the field where power occurs,and the panoramic and open architecture is an important way of power discipline.The order of space characterizing the order of power.The body is an important object of modern power discipline,and physical violence and social norms are important ways of maintaining the power order.Discourse carries the ideology of power.Roy deconstructs the grand discourse of "modernization","progress" and "development" and analyzes the power ideology permeated in the discourse of faith.The third chapter discusses the significance of Roy’s power writing.Through the analysis of the form of power and the way of power operation,loi tried to awaken the underlying people’s consciousness of the subject.The awakening of subject consciousness is the beginning of resistance against power.Roy also explores the possibility of national unity through her literary writing.Roy longs for a home of diversity and equality. |
