Are certain body movements(such as eyes, head, etc.)associated with thinking? In terms of the relationship between individual cognition and the expression of the body movements, most of the predecessors take adults as research objects and lack of quantitative analysis on actions of body.Three learning tasks were applied in this study, including General Knowledge Questions,Digit Span and Episodic Recall.Cognitive load was relative controlled of high and low levels and children(5 to 6 years old)were recruited as the research objects. The quantitative analysis of computer vision technology was employed in the three cognitive tasks to catch the head movements characteristics(dynamic information)and to explore the impact of cognitive load on children’s head movement and its psychological significance under different learning tasks,so as to explore the internal relationship between cognition and body movement. This study shows that cognitive load has a certain impact onchildren’s head movement in the three learning tasks.Generally speaking, the head movement rate under high cognitive load was higher than that under low cognitive load.Among the 10 indicators collected in this study, head rotation up and down and eye movement from left to right are particularly sensitive to changes in cognitive load.Compared with eye-related indicators, indicators of head outline seem to be more sensitive to changes in cognitive load.In addition, under different cognitive learning tasks, the indicators sensitive to cognitive load are different. In the future, the dynamic information of various body parts can be collected at the same time, and the combined pattern of movements can be excavated at the same time,so as to explore the correlation between movements of various body parts and their internal relations with thinking.Besides,it can be considered to expand the age span and race range of children subjects, and set more sophisticated experiments to make the level of cognitive load absolute under different tasks.Lastly, the relationship between the cognitive task type, cognitive load and children’s head movement can be explored in the cross-cultural background.
