| In today’s society,along with the increasingly frequent international exchanges,the social value of cultural diversity has begun to emerge.It makes language more and more important in human social communication.Therefore,entertainment media,including movies,become the main way for people to understand foreign cultures.Based on the above reasons,the translation of movies and TV plays has become a major focus of the whole translation industry.In recent years,the number of domestic movies and TV dramas imported from abroad continues to rise.At the same time,the market and demand for movie and TV drama translation are also growing.However,the quality of some subtitles are worrying and more efforts should be made to improve the situation.This translation report on movie Back to the Future,taking skopos theory as the guidance,makes an analysis of the movie subtitle and puts forward effective solutions to existing problems during the translation practice,aiming to promote intercultural communication and dissemination through improving the quality of the translation.The report consists of five parts: in the first chapter,the background,purpose and significance of this report are elaborated.At the same time,it briefly introduces the features of the movie subtitle.The second chapter makes a brief introduction skopos theory and its principles,translation criteria and the influence of skopos theory on subtitle translation.The third part introduces the preparation process,including the pre-translation preparation,translation process and tool selection.The fourth part first introduces the plot of movie Back to the Future,and then focuses on the translation of culture-loaded words and idioms,and put forward four translation strategies---free translation,literal translation,reduction and conversion of sentence order.In Chapter 5,the translator summarizes the experience,problems and Enlightenment in the process of translation,and makes a brief discussion on the unsolved problems. |
