Chinese Idiom is a kind of fixed phrase which is rich in meaning and usually used in written form.Because of its rich cultural connotation and fixed structure,teaching Chinese idioms becomes a special part of the Chinese international education.Whether in the process of learning or teaching idioms,we meet a lot of questions.This paper takes the teaching of idioms in international Chinese education as the research object and summarizes the achievements in the teaching of Chinese idioms.Guided by the idea of narrative teaching method,the paper proposes the teaching design,puts it into practice and gets further reflection,hoping to provide reference for the teaching of Chinese idioms.This paper consists of five chapters.The first chapter mainly introduces the research significance,research scope,research objectives,research methods and research overview.The research overview summarizes the previous studies on idiom acquisition,idiom errors,idiom teaching methods and narrative teaching methods.The second chapter includes the relevant theory of instructional design.First of all,it introduces the theoretical basis in psychology and narratology,as well as its teaching ideas and rich teaching forms.Secondly,it is the front-end analysis of teaching design,including teaching objects,teaching materials,class arrangement,teaching principles,teaching objectives,teaching difficulties and teaching AIDS.At last,the author puts forward two instructional design schemes for the idiom "Pulling out the seedling to encourage" and "Suddenly realizing".The third chapter is the record and analysis of teaching effect.The author truthfully recorded the classroom situation with words,including the dialogue and students’reactions.Secondly questionnaire is used to test the students learning psychology and learning effect.It is found that the students obviously improve the learning interest of the idiom,and master the meaning and usage of the two idioms.The implementation teaching design goal is achieved.So we can conclude that the narrative teaching method applying to the idiom teaching of Chinese as a second language achieves the ideal effect.Chapter four analyzes relative merits of teaching practice and puts forward some suggestions.Advantages include:narrative teaching method has a large application space;students’ learning motivation is enhanced;teachers can more easily find the students’errors and correct them in time.The shortcomings include:the teaching language is not rigorous enough;the control of teaching time is inaccurate;practice in idioms is not enough.Finally,suggestions of teaching is put forward according to the advantages and disadvantages,including careful preparation of teaching materials,teach students according to their aptitude;pay attention to the idiom grammar form,reasonable arrangement teaching link;with the aid of a variety of auxiliary means,the teaching form is flexible.Last,it summarizes the research of this paper.It is reasonable and advantageous to apply the narrative teaching method to the teaching Chinese idioms as a second language.
