High School English New Curriculum Standards proposed that textbooks compiling should meet the principle of authenticity and learnability.In fact,the current textbooks do not reach a balance between the two,the reason is that the corpus derived from Anglo-American original and newspapers or magazines of western cultural do not meet the cognitive level of high school students,and adapted textbooks are not conducive for students to learn authentic language."China English" embodies the authenticity of Chinese culture from the language expression,reflects the requirements of the "curriculum standard" from the thinking model and closes to the mother tongue,furthermore,it also balances the relationship between authenticity and learnability.Based on the "High School English Curriculum Standards(Experimental)",this study regards the Senior High School Curriculum Standard Experiment Textbook--English as the study object,investigates and analyzes the authenticity and learnability of “China English” from PEP High School English Textbook,discusses whether the "China English" phenomenon is consistent with the requirement of the authenticity and learnability.This paper adopts the method of text analysis and questionnaires to carry out quantitative and qualitative research on the ideas of "China English" words’ formation,vocabulary frequency,practice situation and teachers and students’ opinions on the principle of authenticity and learnability.The study find that the "China English" phenomenon in the teaching material do not conform to the principle of authenticity and learnability.So,it suggest that "China English" in the textbook should be improved from the four aspects: vocabulary selection,reading corpus selection,introduction of word formation and leading-in and application equivalence.What’s more,the study advise English teachers to update teaching concepts and understand the essence of language learning,popularize "China English" in class,meanwhile,encourage students to collect and use "China English".
